Whitney Houston (1963-2012)

Sad news out of California tonight.  Singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.  There are no other details at this time.  Whitney's life had been plagued by drug abuse in recent years.  Very sad that her life was cut short.

Thoughts and prayers to her friends, family, and especially her young daughter.

Super Bowl and stuff

I was going to blog about the Super Bowl commercials yesterday but I couldn't remember my password to sign in.  Then, I was busy trying to win a Camero but it didn't work out that way.

I'm watching Dance Moms online from last week.  It's pretty bad.  The girl, Peyton, who replaced Brooke, is really tall.  She's a lot bigger than the other girls which makes her stand out. Her mom seems to be level headed though.  I don't know.  It does make me mad that Nia got the lead in the group dance but because Nia was to play a bully, Holly objected.  If their daughters don't get the lead, the moms are upset.  When Nia gets the lead, Holly gets upset.  Yeah, Nia has to portray a bully.  She's acting.  It doesn't make her a bully.

I caught the very end of Ink Masters on Saturday and Al whatever his name is was kicked off the show.  That makes me happy because he had such a huge attitude. He always smirked when somebody was being told what they did wrong but when he was being told what he did wrong he looked like "How could they think I did anything wrong?"

Other than those little gems, I don't have much to talk about.  What would you like to see The Dingo talk about?  Send me a suggestion on FB and I will throw some things together.

Might (mite?) Hockey

Today's post is later than normal because I had nothing to say today.  I thought blogging every day would be easy but four days in and I got nothin.  Until my dad came to the rescue.  Here's what he just said to me that got me writing "You know, if they want a reality show that would be a hoot, they should do might hockey."

Might hockey or Mite hockey?  I dunno which it is.  But, I do know what it is.  It's little kids learning how to skate.  How funny would that be?  A bunch of little kids falling down a lot trying to learn how to ice skate.  Good times would be had by all!

And that's all I got about that, so tv execs, get on that.  Other than that, today has been non-entertaining.  I don't feel all that great.  I took a two hour nap when I normally only doze for about 45 minutes.  Scratchy throat, chest congestion, blech.

At around 10 this morning Dad and I took all three dogs to a baseball field that's mostly fenced in so that they could actually run.  They had a lot of fun.  Big Dumb Stupid Puppy Head is rolling around on the floor being big and dumb.  Awesome Dog is conked out.  Annoying Beagle is laying next to Dad in their chair.

FACT:  You should watch this.  And all of the other episodes as well but Number 4 and 5 are my favorite.  FACT.

Amelia

I had no idea what I wanted to blog about today.  Then, I read my friend Mandy's blog and was outraged.  This is sick, unfair, and unconscionable.  This 3 year old needs a kidney transplant because she has Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome.   So why all the outrage?  Her parents were told that little Amelia Rivera will not get the transplant she needs to survive.  A doctor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) , for all intents and purposes, told Amelia's parents that Amelia doesn't deserve to have a kidney transplant.  Why?  Because she's "mentally retarded" and "brain damaged."  The medications she will have to take after the transplant could cause seizures and more brain damage so little Amelia doesn't qualify.  Other kids who get transplants have to take these same medications.  It's okay to risk them having seizures and brain damage but not little Amelia.   One social worker even had the audacity to smirk at the Riveras and ask them who would make sure Amelia took her medications in 27 years when they were dead.  Wow.

Keep in mind that the Riveras were not asking that Amelia be placed on the transplant list.  They were going to go through family until they found a match.  They just need somebody to do the operation.  Little Amelia was denied.  This precious three year old girl was denied the right to live.  The Riveras were told to let Amelia die all because she's "mentally retarded."

You can read about the horrible day that the Riveras were told that their precious daughter doesn't deserve to live here.

You can give Amelia a voice and demand that in 2012, she be given the same chance as a "normal" child by signed the petition.

Want to do more?  Go to CHOP's Facebook page and tell them that Amelia deserves to live.  Tweet about it using #teamamelia.  Let's make this TREND.  Google Amelia Rivera and read about this little girl.

Who are these people to decide that Amelia doesn't deserve a life?  Please stand along with me and fight for little Amelia.

Update:

Hello wolfhirschhorn.org followers:

Over the course of the last week, there have been new updates on the situation with Mia and the Rivera's status with CHOP. Over the weekend, a meeting took place between a number of the key leaders of CHOP, the Rivera's and wolfhirschhorn.org. The purpose of the meeting was to get an understanding of the chain of events that led to the "Brick Walls" posting. The meeting lasted a little over 90 minutes and the Rivera's had an opportunity to tell their side of the story and the related concerns about Mia's needs and how CHOP handled the situation. CHOP agreed that the system is broken and that they are taking steps to fix the process. In addition to addressing Mia and the next steps with her transplant discussions, a few suggestions were made to CHOP about their involvement in a more macro view of awareness around transplant rights for the disabled, and public and medical community education around the "mentally retarded" phrase. CHOP agreed to follow up and communicate their action items by the end of this week.

Mia and the Rivera's are planning a visit to CHOP in the near future to determine CHOP's role in her transplant and her on-going medical care. Once that meeting takes place, we will issue a statement on the status of Mia, her care, and CHOP's involvement moving forward.

Dance Moms

*Yawn*  This is going to take a long time to write.  Okay, so I didn't watch Dance Moms last night.  I had to get up at 4:30 this morning so that I could be on a webinar at 5 am for school. The funny thing is that the lady giving this morning's webinar sounded a lot like Abby Miller.  It was an interesting mental image to have so early in the morning.  Anyway, on with the show!

Right away, Nia is on the bottom of the pyramid because she made a mistake while performing at the competition last week.  She's been doing really well from late last season until the second episode of this season.  She's come a long way and she should be proud of herself.  I understand that Abby is hard on these girls because this is her elite team.  You have to audition to be on this team but I think every once in awhile, Abby needs to give these girls some kudos.

Paige is always on the bottom of the pyramid.  I haven't seen all of Season 1 so maybe she gets to be higher on the pyramid in other episodes but the ones I have seen, she's always on the bottom.  But how freakin cute is Kendell?  She's going to be a beautiful young woman.  I am shocked to see that Maddie is not on the top of the pyramid.  I thought that was her permanent spot.

Four minutes into this episode and Brooke admits in an interview that she doesn't know if she wants to be a role model for the other kids.  Good for her.  The one thing I like about Brooke that I haven't seen from the other Abby Lee Miller girls is that she speaks her mind.  She's not afraid to go against what the almighty Abby wants.

At the football game, Brooke is asked about trying out for cheerleading.  It appears that Brooke is a popular girl.  At her age, why wouldn't she want to be a cheerleader?  She's probably been dancing for 10 years if not longer.  I can see where she wants to do something else.  Kelly's a good mom for letting Brooke decide if she wants to dance or cheerlead.  A lot of times, kids are forced to do something like dance or play an instrument and they're miserable because it's something they don't enjoy doing but the parent forces them to do it.  Kelly could have easily said "No, Brooke, you're not going to tryouts; you're going to the competition."

How freakin adorable is McKenzie?  "I'm totally ready to dance with the big girls."  You go girlfriend!  I don't know how fair it is to pit two girls from the same dance company against each other in a competition.  And Abby is furious with Kelly and Brooke.  "She's screwing me, I can feel it!" and telling Kelly it's bad parenting.  When Christi said that the moms were trying to stand behind Brooke, Abby calls her an asshole.  Nice.  I agree that Brooke should have told Abby that she'd rather try out for cheerleading but I can understand that Brooke is probably scared to death of Abby.

Surprise!  Cathy from Bad Candy Apple is calling Melissa.  Cathy seriously annoys me.  She's totally unethical.  She tried to cheat last week, is calling the moms from another studio, inviting them to a party (last week).  She just needs to go away.

YAY!  Brooke made it through cheerleader try outs!  I think she'll be a lot happier being a cheerleader.  She won't be cut down all of the time.

Seriously, Christi and Cathy should be ashamed of themselves.  Cathy calling Christi "nose" and "disco ball."  Christi calling Cathy a bitch.  Um, Cathy may be a bitch but don't get into it in front of the girls.  Be the bigger person and just walk away.  Yes, Abby, everyone's replaceable but you don't have to prove that Brooke is "worthless."  Obviously, Brooke was a major cornerstone to the team or you wouldn't have gotten so aggravated that she wanted to do something else.

I do not think Candy Apples should be competing against Abby Lee.  The Candy Apple girls are way older than Abby Lee's girls.  *Snork*  Candy Apples got 8th place.  Hey, they can out dance me any day.  I just like to see evil people like Cathy get what's coming to them.

Looks like next week is going to be even more epicness.  A new dancer is introduced to take the place of Brooke.  She seems to think she's better than everybody else.  Her mom seems to call the other moms on their crap, especially Christi.  And of course Christi and Abby get into it again.

Stay tuned!

Annoying Beagle

Annoying Beagle came to live with us in January of 2011.  It was a nightmare.  She was obnoxious, unruly, unpotty trained.  She was the worst dog I've ever had.  There was actually one time we considered getting rid of Annoying Beagle.   Annoying Beagle got into a gnarly fight with Big Dumb Stupid Puppy Head.  Mom Figure took a tooth through the hand.  I got a nice bruise on the wrist.  Annoying Beagle had a tear in her ear.  Fun times.  We figured since Annoying Beagle had bitten us both, breaking skin on Mom Figure, Dad Figure would want Annoying Beagle gone.  Even sitting in the waiting room to go get Mom Figure a tetanus shot a few minutes later, I was near tears thinking of getting rid of Annoying Beagle.

Well, it's January 2012 now.  Annoying Beagle has turned into a pretty good dog.  She's settled down nicely.  She does have some manners to learn, especially around supper time.  Overall, Annoying Beagle doesn't try to attack Big Dumb Stupid Puppy Head or Awesome Dog when they're eating.  She knows that she will get food in her own bowl.

But, Annoying Beagle has been uber annoying the past couple of days.  I am trying to study.  I want to get this stuff done.  However, Annoying Beagle seems to think she needs to go outside and come back in within minutes of each other.  I don't want to discourage her from asking to go outside because she's just finally getting the whole asking to go outside to pee-pee thing.  It's just super frustrating that I have to get up every five minutes to let her out.

Of course, Annoying Beagle is also funny.  Last night, Mom Figure was sitting on the couch with Annoying Beagle.  Mom Figure farted and Annoying Beagle smelled her own butt like "How did I do that?  I didn't feel it but I heard it!"  It was funny.  This morning I went into my room to get dressed and I couldn't see Annoying Beagle, just her nose peaking out from under my blanket.

Ugh.  What do about an Annoying Beagle?  I hope to figure that out.

Stay tuned.  Later tonight, I will take on Dance Moms.  I love that show!

Um, hello

Hello!  Would you like to play a game?  Bwahahahahha.  Just kidding.  Welcome to my blog and my first post.  I figure this will be a place where I can rant about people leaking stoopid all over the place, maybe keep track of the crazy dreams I have, and generally keep me from studying.  Today we're going to start on a political note because this bothers me.

People who blame President Obama for the recession make me mad.  I'm not a huge Obama supporter by any means.  But it's not like he waved a magic wand and said "recessionus appearus!"  This recession has been years in the making.  Like, it started back in the Clinton era.  And I like Bill Clinton!  I think he's a pretty cool dude.  Anyway, it frustrates me that some people are all "Oh, he's not doing anything to help us, blah blah blah."  Um, in four short years, how he is supposed to undo what it took the banks 20 years to do?  The kicker is that if anybody else had won the presidency, that person would be crucified as well.  The President cannot win, from people who voted for him or from people who didn't.  The next President will probably be just as hated.  People need to remember that the President can only do so much.  He can have a brilliant idea to stop the recession but before it can take place, he has to get Congress to agree with it.  Not easy.  And it could be the simplest, easiest fix in the world but there are going to be idiots who will try to stop whatever this plan is from happening because they just don't like the President.  Politics has become a place where people are going to fight each other because they don't like the other person or the party the person belongs to and has moved far away from what's best for the people.

Anyway, that's my first rant.  It's been something that's been bothering me for awhile.  Probably because I'm not a very political person and don't really have a set party politically.  Stay tuned, I may take on JoePa later today if I decide I don't want to study some more!
